If you need to hire a roofer to do work on your home in Denver, Colorado, you’ll want to keep several things in mind.
First, you should know that all roofing companies are not alike. Your roof is probably one of the most expensive parts of your home, so when it comes time to hire a contractor to help you with roof repair or roof replacement you’ll want to make sure you’re working with someone who will know how to get the job done right.
An inexperienced roofer will be more likely to make mistakes
Several years ago, we had a client who hired a family friend, who had just started his own roofing company. He had been working in the industry for about a year and instead of staying on with the contactor he’d been working with, he decided to branch off on his own.
The company was licensed and insured, which was good, but the men who did the work were very inexperienced. As time went on the woman realized she had issues with her flashing, there were some problems with leaks around a skylight and she eventually learned that the overall quality of the work was not even close to being up to par.
We were ultimately hired to fix what shouldn’t have needed to be repaired in the first place.
We’re not saying that you shouldn’t hire friends who work in the roofing industry- but we are saying that when it comes to roof repair and roof replacement in Denver, you’ll want to hire an experienced professional who has the know-how and the experience to make sure the work is done correctly.
When the work is done right the first time, you won’t need to worry about having issues moving forward.
Ask how long the company has been serving the local area
One of the biggest things we tell people is that when it comes time to pick a roofer, make sure you’re working with a local company.
Fly-by-night door-to-door roofing salespeople are often hopping from town to town. If the company doesn’t have a local brick-and-mortar address (or you can’t find any evidence that they exist online) this is a huge red flag.
Be sure to ask the roofer for a list of local references; we often suggest clients ask for 3-4 references of prior clients that have a last name that begins with a certain letter.) This can help ensure that you’re getting a true random sampling as opposed to a pre-selected list.
