About Centennial Colorado

One of the most notable things about Centennial, Colorado is that it’s been ranked as the 15th safest city in Arapahoe County. It’s the 10th most populous city in the state; the most recent census data shows that as of 2010, the city was home to nearly 100,400 residents.

The city was formed in February 2001 and residents say they voted to incorporate for several reasons. First, they wanted to prevent additional annexations of unincorporated areas by Greenwood Village and second, they were attracted to a promise that involved keeping city taxes at 1 percent. Unfortunately, the current city sales tax rate has grown to 2.5 percent, which many residents say is not what they signed up for.
Centennial, Colorado covers nearly 28 square miles of land and it is, for the most part, divided in half by Interstate 25. Most of the entertainment and business centers lie west of the highway, while the eastern portion is overwhelmingly residential.

Residents say the city of Centennial is a wonderful place to raise a family because it’s just a quick drive from some Northern Colorado’s most popular attractions, including a large number of hiking, snowboarding and skiing trails.

It’s also close to the city of Denver, Colorado which makes driving to the city for a night out on the town quite feasible.

Families point out that there are more than two dozen public and private elementary, middle and high schools that serve the city of Littleton, which makes it an ideal choice for house-hunters with school-age children.
